Gambling With More Than Lives When Driving Under The Influence

Driving a motor vehicle under the influence is more or less equal to gambling. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is similar to rolling the dice in the casino. Statistics reveal that 33 % of the traffic accidents and 39 % of the deaths in America are associated with alcohol at some point of their lives. Driving under the influence is similar to playing very high stake games in casinos. When you play gamble you may win but when a drunk driver causes an accident nobody wins.

The United States adopted the drunk driving laws in 1910. They drunk driving laws require proofs of intoxication. They impose DUI charges by observations like impaired driving, weaving in and out of traffic, but not based on the level and state of intoxication. With increased no of accidents they started implementing field sobriety tests like walking on straight line, standing on one foot for 30 seconds. These tests were conducted by the law enforcing officer.

Latter on Norway introduced the first DUI laws based on the level of alcohol in the blood in 1936. The level of alcohol is blood is nothing but BAC(Blood alcohol content). Some chemical tests are added along with BAC test for checking the DUI. Based on these tests the law enforcing office will calculate the percentage of alcohol in blood by Weight. If you are involved in a DUI accident which involves property damage, injuring a person or manslaughter then sever charges like heavy fines, license suspension and jail time will be included. So think twice before you get behind the wheel when you are driving under the influence.
